The University of Tasmania (UTAS) has confirmed its place amongst the world’s highest calibre universities, yet again being ranked at 301-350 in the 2018 Times Higher Education (THE) World University Rankings. The University’s largest gains were in Teaching and International Outlook.

The position of UTAS in worldwide ranking lists has gradually increased in recent years and, in THE World Rankings, it has securely maintained a spot in the top 350 universities for three years running.

University of Tasmania Vice-Chancellor Professor Peter Rathjen said the University’s high rankings on the world stage was reflective of the institution’s focus on globally impactful research.

“Our intent is to be world-class in all respects so that our students receive a world-class qualification so that our university attracts the best and brightest, and so that we grow together on a foundation of meaningful and globally impactful research,” Professor Rathjen told the Explorer.

“This thirst for excellence is seen in our recruitment of outstanding scholars from around the world, and our focus on key research themes that tackle deeply complex and pressing challenges.”
