The University of Tasmania has scooped two key sustainability awards in the latest 2017 Green Gown Awards Australasia, including one for university accommodation at the University’s Inveresk campus.

UTAS took top honours in the Built Environment, and Community categories, with only one other university managing to equal our number of awards.

The Built Environment award recognised the Inveresk Apartments’ environmentally economically and socially sustainable design – an accolade which will be music to the ears of the university’s student body given that the newest university accommodation in Hobart has been designed along similar lines.

The second award for Community recognised Education for Sustainability Tasmania, a network of organisations facilitated by the University that promotes community engagement and education for sustainability.

Part of an international awards scheme, the Green Gown Awards are dedicated to recognising excellence in sustainability within the tertiary education sector in Australasia.
