All published Royal Society Papers and Proceedings from 1924-2009 are available via UTAS ePrints. Between June-October 2012, 38,718 of these papers have been downloaded from the ePrints open access repository indicating the value of this important collection which has not previously been easily discoverable or accessible.

These refereed scholarly papers focus on research in Tasmanian natural sciences and history and other disciplines that are particularly relevant to Tasmanians.

Access to Royal Society of Tasmania Papers and Proceedings

UTAS Library and the Royal Society of Tasmania are pleased to announce that the ‘Papers & Proceedings’ of The Royal Society of Tasmania have been made openly accessible and discoverable via the Library’s ePrints repository.  This amounts to over 1300 articles published between the years 1849 to 1863, and 1924 to 2009 being  digitised by the Library and optimised for discovery through search engines such as Google. The latest two issues (currently, 2010 and 2011) remain under a rolling embargo. The use of Optical Character Recognition during the process of digitisation means that the full text of the articles can be searched and discovered.

Eprints celebrates first birthday

December marked the first anniversary of the official launch of UTAS ePrints. CADA staff have just uploaded the two thousandth item to ePrints which is very encouraging. All staff have been busy on the Quaker digitisation project which has involved digitising rare and special Quaker items from the Library Archives. ePrints now hold 130 Quaker records comprising letters, diaries and early Tasmanian photographs. The School of History and Classics are ran a Summer school in January 2008 which will used primary source material housed in UTAS ePrints. This is the first formal link to be established between teaching and UTAS ePrints.
