Convergence Lab on its way!

We have launched our ‘Convergence Lab’ website this week. An exciting program with a renowned group of catalysts is coming to Hobart in early December. Convergence Lab will explore emergent practice and the creative application of digital technologies.

The first three days of the symposium will be running under the theme ‘Provocation & Play’ and will provide a facilitated environment for collaborative investigation into digital culture and making.

Convergence Lab will also offer a professional development opportunity for educators. The units will span over the two 3-day symposia and college teachers will take actual projects back to their classroom environments.

Stage 1 Co-location Actioned!

Some 40 VET students have now joined the general student cohort at the Centre for the Arts. The Ceramics and Design in Wood studio areas were installed over January 2011 and Polytechnic students participated in the School of Art Orientation Day and received a briefing about key aspects of their program, including the logistics of accessing the Hunter St building and relevant services and support programs.

A review of Stage 1 of co-location will be undertaken by an independent consultant throughout Semester 1, 2011. This is to establish the relative success of Stage 1 implementation and to inform the delivery of the remaining two stages.

Pathways Student Feedback Project

*Congratulations to Allison Dower for winning the $200 Entrepot voucher for completing the Pathways on-line student survey !*

Thanks to all of the TSA students who participated in the Pathways on-line student survey. We’ve had lots of responses and really appreciate the time and thought that everyone has put into their answers, especially for the written feedback. Pathways has already surveyed a number of students from 1st, 2nd and 3rd year of the Bachelor of Fine Art through Focus Group sessions. This feedback will be combined with the survey responses to create a Student Feedback report for the School of Art.

At the same time it has transformed its entire way of working by recovering its foundational principle of ‘ensemble’- using this as a creative and ethical principle, and as a management tool- and extending it from the rehearsal room to the organisation as a whole.
