Health Informatics in Australia: Investing in a healthy future

At the recent the recent National health informatics conference hosted by the Health Informatics Society of Australia, held in Melbourne, had the theme of investing in e-health, people, knowledge and technology for a healthy future. Day 1 was the nursing informatics conference where recent developments in health care and research using technology in a range of settings were presented. The presentation by Olonrenshaw is discussed further in the September ACN Nursing Review. The academic/scientific presentations given can be found in the ios press publication of the full papers.

The publication attests to a conference that was packed with innovation, ideas and progress within the health informatics field. I urge you to browse regardless of your interest at a systems, organisation or individual level, within the public or private sector or health care setting. A browse of the paper titles will demonstrate the breadth of development of the field of health informatics and remind clinical educators of the need to remain abreast of new developments inĀ  health care delivery enabled by digital platforms and software to improve communication, data collection and care delivery. There is also information about patient engagement and the use of technology for education and research. There is even information about this community of practice. Join us @PEPCommunity.
