University of Tasmania climbs the global rankings again University of Tasmania June 7, 2018 Featured, UTAS The University of Tasmania has continued its annual climb in the international university rankings, yet again confirming its place amongst the best universities in the world. In the prestigious QS World University Rankings 2019, the University of Tasmania jumped an impressive 26 places to be ranked 287 internationally. This places the University in the highly coveted top 300 of universities world-wide and reaffirms its reputation as a premier teaching institution. This comes on top of the most recent QS Rankings by Subject (2018) which places the University amongst the top 50 in the world for Earth and Marine Sciences and top 100 for Agriculture and Forestry. Another nine disciplines are also very highly ranked in the QS Rankings, including English, biological sciences, chemistry, education, environmental sciences, law, medicine, sociology and economics. The 2019 QS World University Rankings considered more than 4,700 universities from 151 countries and evaluated more than 1,200 of them in detail. The rankings examine and rank universities based on the following six indicators: academic reputation; faculty/student ratio; citations per faculty; employer reputation; international faculty ratio; and international student ratio.
