What makes a good life in Tasmania?

In November 2020, the Institute for Social Change (ISC) was commissioned by the secretariat to the Premier’s Economic and Social Recovery Advisory Council (PESRAC) to carry out research to help inform COVID-19 recovery strategies.

The research comprised an online survey and a series of in-depth interviews and was organised around the idea of ‘What makes a good life in Tasmania?’, with questions about present and future wellbeing (adapting indicators from the OECD Better Life Index) and Tasmania’s recovery from COVID-19.

More than 2300 Tasmanian residents completed the survey, and we supplemented this data with interviews with 23 under 30 year olds.
