AHPRA: Schedule regular PD to maintain registration

The Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia urges nurses to schedule professional development throughout the year to ensure they meet the annual requirements for registration to practice. This annual cycle involves reviewing your own professional practice, identifying learning needs and participating in relevant learning activities.  the final phase is reflection on the value of those activities.  Documentation of the self-directed PD undertaken needs to include a description of the outcomes and the time spent on the activity. Sound familiar? It is a similar process used as part of the clinical reasoning cycle (see a previous post). Previous posts in this blog have indicated PD opportunities that an be accessed on-line.

You can also follow AHPRA and the Nursing and Midwifery Board on Twitter and remain informed with regular updates and news from the Board.

Have you identified your learning needs for this evidentiary cycle? Have you developed a learning plan?
