There are a number of professional development opportunities provided by health organisations within Australia that you can undertake to update your knowledge and skills.
For example the National Prescribing Service provides an online training to scaffold learning about the National Inpatient Medication Chart. This package is endorsed by the RCNA now the Australian College of Nursing for 2 points of CNE. You need to register to undertake the training and a certificate of completion is provided as evidence. Similarly Hand Hygiene Australia provides an e-learning opportunity about the 5 moments for hand hygiene. A certificate is also provided on completion of this module. Nursing students are expected to complete this training and provide evidence prior to their first professional experience placement .
Transfusion practice and patient blood management information is available by undertaking the Bloodsafe e-learning module. This package was developed and is endorsed by the all Australian Governments, National Blood Authority Australia, the Australian Red Cross Blood Service and Australia and New Zealand Society of Blood Transfusion. The NMBA recommends that 0.5 CNE points can be awarded on completion of this course.
ThinkGP also provides a range of free courses including mental health topics and chronic pain management.
