2 minutes with… Emma Cairns, Fieldwork Coordinator, School of Health Sciences/School of Nursing

Emma Cairns

What are you really good at, but kind of embarrassed that you are good at it?

I am really good at laundry, like really good. Any stain or discolouring can be managed and although I’m not necessarily embarrassed about this, I do try to play it down.

What are you most grateful for?

My children, they are wonderful. Nothing more to be said.

As a child, what did you want to be when you grew up?

Marine biologist, but I get too cold to be outside.

If you could choose one song to play every time you walked into a room for the rest of your life, what would it be?

Dance of the Sugar Plum Fairy

What do you like most about your work?

I like working with the students. I like the stories from placement and experiencing health care through novice eyes.

What was the first music tape/record/CD/download you bought with your own money?

Placebo / Without You I’m Nothing. Still a great love of mine.

What is your favourite Movie?

Amelie. Beautiful fun French film I could watch over and over.

What do you love the most about living in Launceston?

The pace of life and long hours of daylight in summer.
