Rousing reception for Sydney Graduands at City Recital Hall

On Friday 12 April, several hundred Sydney University of Tasmania graduands were presented their degrees and honoured at a ceremony in the City Recital Hall in Sydney’s CBD.

Students from across the College of Health and Medicine, as well as the Tasmanian School of Business and Economics (TSBE) received their testamurs in front of family, friends, staff, and industry stakeholders.

Due to the number of graduands, there were two ceremonies held. The School of Nursing presented Bachelor of Nursing to almost 200 fast-track students, several Masters Degrees, and a PhD.

At 3pm the School of Medicine awarded the Bachelor of Paramedic Practice and TSBE conferred students with a Master of Health Service Management and Master of Health Information Management.

To present students with their degrees were the Chancellor of the University Hon. Michael Field AC, and representatives of the College of Health and Medicine including Head of the School of Nursing Professor Karen Francis, and Head of the School of Medicine Professor Ben Canny, among academic and professional staff from both Sydney Campuses.

The Occasional Address at each ceremony highlighted the importance and societal relevance of the training each student has undertaken and reminded graduates of the need to continue learning throughout their careers in health.

Students celebrated their achievements with family, friends and academics at the Ivy Ballroom after the ceremonies.
