5 minutes with…Darren Henstridge, Senior Lecturer Health and Human Performance, School of Health Sciences

What is your favourite film and book?

Film – Probably something like The Dark Knight. Every time I come across it on TV I end up watching it when I should go to bed! Unfortunately, it would be the last of Heath Ledger’s brilliance.

Book – Why is that such a difficult question? If you are interested in health/medical-related books it is worth reading The Immortal Life of Henrietta Lacks and Still Alice.

What makes you laugh?

Mates.  I feel I have numerous friends who should quit their day job and be comedians! From an entertainment perspective, the TV show that I think cracked me up the most was The IT Crowd.

Tell us one thing on your ‘must do’ list for the future.

Would be great to catch the action down at Shipstern Bluff when the surf is pumping.

What do you consider to be the best part about living in Tasmania?

Coming from Melbourne, it’s the lack of traffic and the ease of travel.

What do you like most about your work?

Being a researcher, it’s the team work, dedication, collaboration and commitment of a group to achieve a common goal. Great friendships are made through participating in this process.

Tell us one thing that might surprise people about you.

I once took 7/7 in a cricket match and followed it up with 3/3 the next week.
