2 minutes with Jacquie Perkins (Zoldi)

What are you really good at, but kind of embarrassed that you are good at it?

I grew up on acreage on Bruny Island, my family had cattle and we grew Boronia flowers commercially. The embarrassing bit is that I know a bit about farming and mechanical stuff and I can drive a tractor and other kinds of machinery.

What are you most grateful for?

For my family and to have had my childhood in a time that life was not about social media and how many likes you could get.

As a child, what did you want to be when you grew up?

I’m not sure I really thought about it that much, I was too busy playing outside.

If you could choose one song to play every time you walked into a room for the rest of your life, what would it be ?

Celebration – by Kool and the Gang

What do you like most about your work?

Witnessing the learning journey of our graduates as they make the transition from student doctor to real doctor.

What was the first music tape/record/CD/download you bought with your own money?

I can’t remember exactly, but I think it might have been Smash Hits, the best of 1995.

What is your favourite Movie?

I am a fan of the producer Nancy Meyers. Some of her films include – It’s Complicated, Something’s Gotta Give and The Holiday.

What do you love the most about living in Hobart?
The ever changing nature of the waterfront (admired from my office) and it’s close proximity to the beautiful nature surrounds.

What is the title of your position, who do you work with and what do you do?
Team Leader, Hobart Clinical School.
My team is responsible for sourcing and managing the clinical placement for approx. 100 full time medical students, the associated timetabling and assessment and; a whole lot of other things in between.
I work with a team of great people: administration, doctors, surgeons, nurses and importantly students.
