5 minutes with… Dr Sharon Andrews, Senior Lecturer in Nursing, Darlinghurst

What is your favourite film and book?Sharon Andrews

I don’t have a favourite film as such, I tend to watch more television serials. I have many favourite books – The Book Thief by Markus Zusak; A little life by Hanya Yanagihara and The Year of Magical Thinking by Joan Didion.

What makes you laugh?

Slapstick comedy, black comedy and my three-year-old nephew.

Tell us one thing on your ‘must do’ list for the future.

Write a book.

What do you consider the best part about living where you do is?

I live on the South Coast of NSW in a suburb called Bulli. The best things about living there are the beautiful beaches and a wonderful local community.

What do you like most about your work?

I really enjoy the diversity and challenge of working across learning and teaching as well as research. I also find great satisfaction in working with students. In particular, I enjoy helping our undergraduate nursing students to understand the complexities of caring for older people and disrupting those negative stereotypes often held about this area of nursing.

Tell us one thing that might surprise people about you.

I have had lunch with Prince William.
