5 minutes with… Professor Greg Rickard, Faculty of Health Rozelle Campus Director
What is your favourite childhood memory?
Swimming in the ocean at Gerringong, on the NSW south coast during school holidays
What is your favourite winter meal?
Bouillabaisse made by me (of course), using lots of orange juice, zest and parsley
What do you do to relax?
Running, reading, listening to classical music, cooking, travelling, gardening (I’m told what to do); watching ‘House of Cards’ series in one sitting about 15 hours straight
What is your greatest dislike?
Dishonest people, especially politicians!
What do you like most about your work?
Working with people and solving problems together; but also the luxury of contemplation, such an individualised undertaking
One wish for the future?
More tolerance of refugees and upholding their rights under UNHCR. Refugees are not a new phenomenon who need our support. “One day I could be a refugee.”
Tell us one thing people might not know about you.
My backyard is the Royal Botanic Gardens and Domain Sydney; think Sydney Opera House to Mrs Macquarie’s Chair and to St Mary’s Cathedral. My partner is the curator and manager (of these places) – I am very lucky!
