Our last blog post as the Faculty of Health

Dear Colleagues,

It’s the final blog post of the year and my last as Dean of the Faculty of Health. I would like to take this opportunity to reflect on another busy year and to celebrate the lasting achievements of the Faculty of Health before we evolve into a new phase in 2018 as the College of Health and Medicine.

Over the past few years, we have been through many changes and throughout we have continued to set the benchmark for the University. Our people have been at the centre of these achievements, continuing to deliver high quality learning and teaching, and research.

In 2013 we formed two large schools from five smaller schools. Since then we have grown to incorporate the Wicking Centre as a prominent centre in the University, touching the lives of over 146,000 people through our Massive Open Online Course (MOOC) offerings. We have more than doubled our size and scale; we continue to deliver research that has local, national and international significance; and we work closely with our health industry partners to deliver high quality health professional education.

This has been a remarkable period. The willingness, capability and adaptability of our people demonstrate the greatest strength of our Faculty. In 2018 we will build on our strengths, focus our efforts and further invest in our staff.

A sincere thanks to each and every one of you.

I hope you take care over this holiday period and enjoy your time with family and friends. I look forward to seeing you in the New Year as we embark on a new chapter and explore new possibilities as the College of Health and Medicine.
